MADE EXCLUSIVELY AND SOLD BY ALZSTOREThese high resolution, full colour door murals camouflage the door, making it appear to be a set of shelves, rather than an exit. Often, wandering from the safety of home to the dangers of the street is simply a matter of taking advantage of an opportunity – “There’s the door, let’s go.” But if the door is not so recognizable, the likelihood of opening that door and heading “home”, is significantly reduced, if not eliminated. Use these door murals to improve safety and reduce attempts to wander out of the home.
Please note that all our door murals are not returnable.
Most managers and those responsible for senior residences do everything possible to create the safest environments for their residents. Among the most dangerous behaviors common to persons with dementia-related disorders is attempts to leave home or elope. Some doors can be safely locked, while others cannot, though the ultimate purpose is for the safety of the resident.
This realistic photographic mural attaches to the face of a door and “camouflages” it, making the door look like a set of bookshelves, rather then an exit. The door just seems to “disappear” and for many persons with dementia, seeking to leave home or walk down a dangerous flight of stairs, perhaps in the middle of the night, this addresses a major safety concern.
Paper door murals are one step to deterring residents from opening dangerous doors, however, some Fire Marshals take exception to this because any combustible material added to a fire-rated door directly affects the combustibility (and therefore the fire-rating) of that door. However, non-combustible, fire rated materials do not.
These door applications are printed on Class A, fire rated polyvinyl. They are not only non-combustible, but self-extinguishing. They can actually improve the fire-rating of the door. Thus the Fire Marshall should take no exception to the application of these door murals and the ultimate goal of creating a safer environment for the residents is accomplished.
