Office Life Skills Station
Bring Familiar Work Routines Back to Life
The Office Life Skills Station is a thoughtfully designed activity center that recreates the familiar environment of a traditional office, encouraging meaningful engagement for individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Designed for memory care, long-term care, adult day programs, and senior living communities, this station allows residents to reconnect with everyday office routines that once brought structure, purpose, and accomplishment to their lives.
For many older adults, work was an important part of their identity. Filing papers, organizing documents, sorting mail, using office supplies, writing notes, answering messages, or stamping paperwork were daily tasks performed for decades. Revisiting these familiar activities can spark positive memories, encourage conversation, and provide a comforting sense of normalcy.
The Office Life Skills Station offers a variety of hands-on activities that promote cognitive stimulation, fine motor skills, attention, sequencing, and problem-solving while reducing boredom and encouraging purposeful engagement. Residents can participate independently, with family members, or during one-on-one and group programming.
More than simply an activity centre, the Office Life Skills Station creates opportunities for residents to feel productive, capable, and valued while supporting non-pharmacological dementia care interventions.
